Oswald and Ruby in Dallas A SelfGuided Tour eBook Michael Reid
This is a great book if you want to take a tour of all the places in Dallas Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby frequented. It shows the places they lived and worked as well as all the sites associated with the assassination. The author provides detailed directions for getting to each place. I put the addresses into my phone which worked really well. I found particularly interesting the route Oswald took after he shot President Kennedy. The author gives detailed directions as to how you follow the same route. This is necessary since the streets have changed since 1963. The author also includes eyewitness testimony of people who were at the places when events occurred. It is fascinating to read these first-hand accounts -- like the doctor at Parkland Hospital who treated President Kennedy and Oswald's landlady and Jack Ruby himself talking about what happened the day he shot Oswald. There are a thousand assassination books, but this one has to go up at the top.Product details

Oswald and Ruby in Dallas A SelfGuided Tour eBook Michael Reid Reviews
I have read several books on the Kennedy assassination, but I have to say, this relatively short tour guide gave me a better feel for who Oswald and Ruby were than the last five hundred page book I read. Besides the tour information, the author provides short biographies of Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby, summaries of key events and testimony of eyewitnesses who were actually there when these things happened. A police officer talks about searching the grassy knoll after the shooting. One of Ruby's employees at the Carousel Club talks about what kind of boss he was. Ruby's girlfriend of 11 years describes the kind of person he was. The owner of the grocery store Oswald shopped in talks about how Oswald bought lunch meat. Living in Dallas, I have visited some of these places, but the tour gives you detailed instructions as to where to go first, second, etc and how to get there. This book is well organized, which I appreciate and it really takes you back in time.
I have always been fascinated by the "Whodunit" of JFK's murder. I'm also fascinated by the minds of the mentally ill. Because I had bought another book by this author I got this one. It is a fast, fascinating, and very easy read. I'll use it for sure the next time I go to Dallas. It's set up perfectly for a self-guided tour the subtitle is quite right. I also really like the way the timelines are laid out. Very easy to follow.
